I learned this truth the hard way during recovery from metal toxicity poisoning.
For months, my body felt foreign — heavy, poisoned, unresponsive. My energy vanished. My mind was foggy. My mood fragile, unpredictable, raw.
The surreal part? I had just finished renovating my home. Everything was brand new — the bathroom, the kitchen, the floors, the carpet. And I couldn’t even walk across it. I lay in bed, motionless, watching the world around me thrive while I couldn’t participate.
My boyfriend whispered, “Just rest today.” (What a legend.)
Even reading became impossible. Letters blurred, sentences lost meaning. My body wasn’t my body anymore. My home wasn’t my home. And my life didn’t feel like mine.
Then something shifted. Pain forced primal clarity. Every distraction fell away. Survival instincts took over. Thirty-day juice fast? Done. No sugar, no caffeine, no comfort food? Easy. No socializing, no nights out? Doesn’t matter.
What remained was a single-pointed focus: getting well.
The pain was brutal — constant, electrocuting, relentless. I could barely feel my own skin. But I could feel everything else: aching, burning, cramping, stabbing, gnawing, pounding, searing. Every word could describe it, every word a pulse, a flash, a wave.
And in that fog and fire, I realized: my mind was still sending messages.
Even immobile, even foggy, my thoughts were shaping my experience. Every visualization, every mental command, every tiny intention rippled through me — changing my chemistry, changing my experience, changing me.
That realization — that’s where the healing began.
Science of Suggestion
Thoughts are biochemical triggers.
Every idea sparks a chemical reaction in your brain. Neurotransmitters and neuropeptides carry your intention through your body. Molecule by molecule, your body listens.
When I visualized my body clearing toxins, my brain released chemical messengers of change. Those molecules signaled organs, tissues, and cells. At first, changes were tiny: a hint of energy, a moment of clarity. But repetition built a bridge between mind and body.
The subconscious? Always listening. Even when I doubted it, it was working.
